Sylvain Gignac   The Board of Directors of the New Brunswick System Operator (NBSO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sylvain Gignac as President and CEO of the NBSO, effective September 15, 2008. Mr. Gignac succeeds Mr. William K. Marshall who retired from the position June 30, 2008.

Mr. Gignac most recently served with StatoilHydro in Oslo, Norway where he was responsible for corporate mergers and acquisitions, business development and investments in a wide range of international energy developments including offshore heavy oil fields, natural gas pipelines, bio-fuel production and wind energy.

Mr. Gignac’s energy sector experience includes seven years with Hydro- Québec. During his time with Hydro-Québec, Mr. Gignac worked closely with System Operators in both Canada and the United States, including the NBSO, on matters ranging from the integration of renewable energy sources, to the negotiation of interconnection agreements with neighbouring utilities.
