Joining the New Brunswick Electricity Market involves compliance with the following 4-step process.

Step 1: Accreditation
|
|
Chapter 2 of the Market Rules deals with the manner in which
persons are Accredited by the NBSO as Market Participants and become
eligible to use the NBSO-controlled grid. Contained within the Chapter are the rules
relating to the process by which persons become Market Participants; the process
for Facility Registration and the Credit Support Requirements
to be met by Market Participants.

Appended to this Chapter is the Participation Agreement that must
be signed by each person that is proposing to become a Market Participant.

|
Market Procedure, MP- 01 defines the process, documents and
forms to be used by any person seeking to apply for Accreditation under the Market
Rules (Participant Form, PF-01-01, Application for Accreditation).

Step 2: Credit Support
|
|
Under the Market Rules, the NBSO is prohibited from Accrediting a person as a Market
Participant unless the NBSO is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the person will
satisfy the Credit Support and other financial requirements. Market Procedure
MP-02 describes the steps to be taken and the forms (PF-02-01 to PF-02-04)
to be used by Market Participants in providing Credit Support and related information
to the NBSO.

Step 3: Facility Registration
|
|
A person that has received from the SO a formal acknowledgment of receipt of its
Application for Accreditation may commence the Facility Registration process. All
physical facilities to be connected to the grid or that will be participating in
the market must be registered.

Market Procedure, MP-03 defines the process, documents and
forms to be used in relation to the registration of Facilities and helps to ensure
the reliability of the grid. Information provided to NBSO about facilities allows
us to ensure that all facilities meet reliability standards.

Step 4: Licensing
|
|
The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board is authorized by section
89 of the Electricity Act to issue, amend and renew a license.
