How the Electric Power System Works

Here is a brief explanation of how the power grid operates:

Suppliers generate power for distribution. New Brunswick suppliers use various means to generate power, such as generating stations (Mactaquac) or power plants (Point Lepreau). Other suppliers may be independant producers, out of province suppliers (Quebec, Nova Scotia, the US) and/or other marketers.
Transmitters widely distribute the generated power by way of lines, towers, etc. NB Power Transmission and WPS Canada are the primary transmitters in the Maritimes and Northeast US.
Loads are customers who require power. These may be individual families, businesses, municipalities, large industries, or even other provinces or states (such as Prince Edward Island and Northern Maine).
